MY YOGA

Yoga in the community
During our 2021 lockdown we made an invitation for some of Bermuda's yoga teachers to submit photographs
and reflections on what their home and personal practice looks like and what it mean to them.
The intention is to create a sense of solidarity for Bermuda Yogi's
during a time when we might be feeling disconnected,
and also to encourage everyone to find confidence and joy in their own explorations.

MY YOGA - Keanne

BERMUDA YOGI: Keanne

MY YOGA: This used to be easy. I started practicing yoga in 2006, since then I have attended various workshops and teacher trainings. Yoga is a part of my life and I prefer to practice at home. I like the convenience of waking up and being on my mat in under 5 minutes. I like being able to work on the asanas that further improve the balance of my body. I like to be able to hold longer on my tighter side or to go into the asana multiple times.

I tested Negative for Covid-19 even though I was sick in bed for 4 days and everyone I lived with tested positive. Inversions are fun and they are challenging and I have been confident in headstand since the first year I started yoga. But now it is leaving me short of breath. And I wonder how long my yoga practice will have to be punctuated with long breaks in child's pose and savasana? Some sessions have ended after a couple rounds of Sun salutations, even meditation changes when a full breath leads to coughing. Perhaps the universe is guiding me to increase my focus on relaxation, one of the 5 pillars of health according to Swami Vishnudevananda.
