Iyengar Yoga
B.K.S Iyengar came from a blighted childhood and in his early years of teaching was often less proficient in asana than his students. He developed his own style, experimenting with props and modifications, for which his method is now well-known. Iyengar emphasizes "asanas cater to the needs of each individual according to his or her specific constitution and physical condition". In Iyengar yoga, poses are typically held for a much longer duration. Iyengar is a very precise, consistent and disciplined practice, that promotes a strong and well aligned foundation, from which the practice should become more reflective and meditative.
